Vol. 2 of the MAD Remix series starts from material that's unusual for jungle and drum & bass: reggae and dancehall love songs, tracks born to be slow and romantic, are sped up to double time and locked into the fast, broken break-grooves typical of the jungle scene.
The contrast is intentional: the sweetness of the vocal melodies stays recognizable, but the rhythmic bed underneath completely changes energy, turning tracks meant for relaxed listening into dancefloor material.
This volume continues the work started with Vol. 1: taking reggae/dancehall repertoire and reinterpreting it through jungle and drum & bass aesthetics, a genre crossover born from an equal passion for both scenes.
